So, some of you may know that Sega's portable addition of it's Phantasy Star saga was confirmed to be in development as of the end of November 2007, but all are surprised when a demo of the game appears at Jump Festa 2008.
(Note: Pics may not be from demo)
The demo itself seemed very interesting, setting you up in four player wireless co-op in a classic Phantasy Star Online playing field. Each player is given a character whom is at Level 25 and has various swords and equipment, as well as some Sword and Sword/Gun combination attacks.

The level was split into three diffrent areas, loaded with all kinds of enemies and gates to unlock. Upon clearing each section of the field, one is confronted by a giant red Dragon boss monster.

The controls seem very similar to standard Phantasy Star control schemes. The Analogue stick is used for moving your character around the field, with the D-Pad being used to move the camera's angle. Square performs a normal attack, and Triangle allows you to attack with a "Photon Art" skill. X brings up a weapon select menu for a quick weapon change. The R trigger is used to switch between Sword Mode and Shooting Mode, and L is used to lock your character into a Strafing mode and center the camera. Finally, Select can allow to you to look at your surroundings by putting you into a First Person Mode.

Graphically, the game seems like a solid port of the Phantasy Star Online engine and the game runs very smoothly, so Phantasy Star fans should not have much to complain about in that area.
As for a release date, it is planned to be out on shelves in Japan in the Spring of this year, so let's hope for a NA version to be here around Q3 or Q4 2008
